This Automatic Hair Curler is a pretty unique hair tool. It can be intimidating to use if you are not experienced with hair but it is fun to try out. I love that it has an auto shut off feature because one thing that scares me is accidently leaving a heating product on. The hair curler takes a little time to get used to but works well. This would make an amazing gift for a teen or woman.

This automatic curling iron is not too hard to figure out. It comes with 2 different sized barrels. It has 3 heat settings. To turn on, you press the power button for appx 2 seconds. It curls in 2 different directions and beeps after about 8 seconds to let you know to release but you can leave it there longer if needed. This is great for people that have arthritis or hand, wrist, shoulder mobility issues.

Disclaimer - I have naturally curly hair LOL. But sometimes, it doesn't cooperate. Or, I just want some more uniform curls. So enters the Curlicue curling wand! I have never really used a curler before, so it did take a little to feel like I got the results I wanted. Once I played a little, I was getting nice curls. Some were a little frizzy, but that is probably just my hair! I think you will like it!

I have hair that's about mid-back length and I was quite worried about using any automatic curler because I was so sure I'd end up with a mess of tangles. I was totally wrong. I curled my entire head of hair using this curler with absolutely no problems. It comes with a storage bag that fits both barrels, the main appliance and two very good sectioning clips which are included in the package.

I'm not a big hair stylist and certainly wouldn't consider myself experienced with hair tools so I can wholeheartedly say this is good for beginners. Read the directions and make sure that you do pull the section of hair down so that the mechanism can grab it and get your hair into the curling chamber -- this can look like it's going to tangle, but trust and go forward. Things will smooth out if you give it a chance. If you do get things a bit messed up, moving the curler down just lets your hair slip off the barrel and you can smooth things out and try again.

It takes a bit of practice, but it does provide beautiful curls and does not damage the hair. For me this is a very important aspect. For thick long hair, the curls will not be as tight as you might thought and they will be, and they will not last that long. But it is a very good product and I highly recommend it for home use and styling.

This automatic hair curler heats up very quickly. It is very easy to use. It is very lightweight and does not feel too heavy in my hands when using it. It is a cute baby pink color, which I love. The buttons are easy to operate and I like that it has an extra long cord on it.

This curling iron has a great concept, but it took me about 10 minutes to figure out how to place my hair in the iron and then figure out which way I should curl it. Once I figured it out, it became much easier to use. I like the curls it gives, but I'm not sure if it's worth all the extra fancy stuff. I may have done my whole head of hair faster with this, but not much more so than a regular curling iron. Still a cool gadget!

At first I thought the barrels on this heating iron look intimidating, I feared I would get my hair tangled and stuck so I read the instructions carefully. Once I actually used the heating iron it's really much easier than it looks. Also it would be much more difficult to get tangled up than I had first feared.

After the iron is heated up you place your hair in the slot of the tulip shaped center and then press either the clockwise turn button or the counter clockwise button. I like the option to curl your hair in different directions. This saves me the strain of contorting my arm to work with my far less dominent left hand.
The inner barrel spins around and grabs the length of your hair to set it in a curl. Then you wait for the beeping alert to let you know your hair is ready to be released.
I chose the loose wave barrel and heat setting. By selecting the recommended combination I got exactly the look I was going for.

I like this iron system more than the usual heated curling iron. Seems to present less danger of getting burned skin. The beeping timer is a big help. And best of all it makes great curl waves in two different directions.

It's a little bulkier than a "normal" Curling Iron, but then again, what exactly is normal? This doesn't take long to figure out how to use it. Once you do, it actually saves a little time curling your hair. If you have a little problem getting your hair to curl just right, this will probably be helpful for you, because mechanically it will load the same way every time. The more you use this the easier it gets.

This definitely has a learning curve. Since I have very long hair (past the bottom of my shoulder blades), it took me a while to figure out exactly how much hair to curl at a time. Even then, I couldn't curl the hair above the top of my ear because the wand can't hold that much hair and effectively curl. Let me correct myself, I can curl the hair above my ear if I curl a teeny bit of hair at a time - the instructions say to use 1" of hair at a time, but I had to cut it down to about 3/4". To curl above my ear, I'd have to use about 1/2". The wand curls well. Unfortunately, because I have so much hair, it takes me about 45 minutes to curl all of my hair. So, I'll use this only for special occasions and when I have the time.

I still recommend getting this wand. It's easy to use, it takes the guess work out of how long to keep the hair on the wand, and it releases the hair easily without it snagging or knotting up.

I have long, baby-fine hair that tangles very easily. I was a bit hesitant to try this automatic curling iron as I was concerned that my hair would end up getting hopelessly entangled in the prong-like outer guards. That does happen, but it isn't as bad as I thought it would be. I like that this unit comes with both a 1" and 1.25" barrel for more versatility. It is easy to switch the barrels as they just twist on or off the base. The curling iron heats up quickly but only offers three temperature settings and with my fragile hair, I choose the lowest one all of the time (330 degrees F). I chose this curling iron because of the statement that it saves time and there is no skill required. And I definitely don't have any skill in creating hair styles. I keep it as simple as possible. It did take me a few tries to feel comfortable using this. I thought the fact that the direction of curling can be changed would really help make my curls look better, and it does. The resulting curls are really more like loose waves, but I think they look very nice. However, I don't find that this curling iron really saves me all that much time + I am always being careful not to let small strands of hair wrap around the guards as well as the barrel. The timing reminder to release the hair is a little too long for me, and seems more suited to those with thicker hair. The curling iron arrived nicely boxed and the price seems reasonable.

An electric curling iron? One that does all the twisting itself? I had never heard of such a thing. Now I'm glad to have one. I was terrified to use the curling iron once I got it all set up and turned it on. (Read the Quick Guide to help you set things up if needed.) It was easy to align the heating element and the barrel. I used the larger barrel on my hair. For reference, my hair is about two inches below my shoulders, is naturally curly/wavy, is color-treated, and I have many layers cut into it. It really freaked me out to put my hair into moving parts - I did not want it to get tangled and have to be cut out or something else just as drastic. If that were going to happen, then trust me, it would have happened to me.

My hair survived without tangling at all - and it looked fantastic after using the large barrel! Plus, the lack of needing to twist every section means this is great for someone with carpal tunnel. I waited until I heard the beeps at first, but because it took me a little time the beeps got off track and were just something unnecessary. They aren't loud and obnoxious, thankfully.

My hair looked really cute after using this. I didn't have any issues with tangling or anything. The curls lasted all day - not sure if it was due to the curling iron or my hair spray, but my hair still looked good at night. That's saying something! I have thick hair, and a lot of it. I was impressed this curling iron could handle it - and handle it well. This is an interesting concept that I like using better than my regular curling iron. I'm glad they offer the barrel in two sizes. Now, if only someone would invent a way to speed-dry your hair I would be really impressed!

The curls are nice and even, what you would expect from a normal curing iron. The mechanism does not tangle unless you get too close to the scalp, but even then, the bottoms are quickly accessible. The beep (timer) allows for no thinking or worrying that you are going to burn your hair. Two options: 10 or 15 seconds. The directional buttons are easy to reach, and the curling iron is very light.

My wife thought this was a very easy to use. It’s nice and light weight and it gave her a great nice tight curl much easier than other curlers she’s used in the past. She highly recommends.

This makes great curls, but it does take longer than it might take with a regular curler, which is kind of the opposite of what you would expect. However, I believe that has to do with getting used to using this vs a regular curler. Overall an interesting option for anyone that really likes to regularly use a curler.

I was both excited and terrified to try a self winding curling iron. My hair is about 3.5 feet long. The barrel is something like teflon coated and it really didn't stick to or pull my hair. My hair did not end up ripped out or pulled into a motor or anything. So first if used by the instructions its ok to use.

+ Full user manual and "quick start guide" so I could look for 1 minute and jump in
- oddly the quick start guide had pictures 1-7 of how to use, but they were printed out of order. 1,2,7,3,4,5,6, ..
+ Auto shut off after 60 minutes
- Auto shut off happened while I was using the iron and I was confused and thought it had died.
- Have to press and hold the button to turn on. Again I thought it was deflective, but I just had to hold the power button for about 2 seconds then it turned on.
+ It did get good and hot for a hot curl.
+ It beeps after a set amount of time to let you know the curl is 'done'. I loved this idea because then instead of counting how many seconds I was holding a curl my head space was free to think other things.. however my hair really resists curl and so I left it for extra time. Then I would start another section and it would be beeping at its normal interval while I had just started another curl. It ended up steadily beeping at me at times I wasn't ready.. I think its a great idea, and probably well timed for people whose hair responds well to heat curling, but I wished there had been a button to turn the beeping off. On the upside it was a mild quiet beep not a loud annoying one so it wasn't a big deal.

All in all I think it's a cool tool to have.

I have always used a straightener to curl my hair. My hair is thick and somewhat coarse. It usually takes me close to an hour to curl it all with the straightener. This new curler is awesome! It took me a minute to figure out how to use it, and knowing which direction to curl took some brain power. But once you get the hang of it it's super quick and easy to use. You use much larger sections of hair with this (compared to a straightener) so it goes faster and you get those softer curls. I like that the heat is nowhere near your hand or head, the tip of the curler doesn't even get hot. The heat is all in the center which is protected by the outer layer. It didn't rip or tangle my hair which I worried about with the spinning motion but it was gentle and easily let go of my hair when the curl was done. It has an auto timer so it beeps when your curl is done. The first two pics in my review are without brushing out the curls and the last one is semi brushed our. I think I'll get better with it the more I use it and get a softer looking curl from root to tip. But for my first try I'm pretty impressed with it. I plan to keep using it. It really cut down on my 'hair doing' time which is super important to me. I'm not a fan of standing in the bathroom for hours. This is a cool tool that I would recommend to anyone with long hair. The only con is that you can't get too close to your roots so the curl starts a little farther down, but a little backcoming will even things out.

It's a breeze to use, and I've managed to get fantastic curls without much effort. The automatic curling feature is genius – it saves me so much time and frustration.
The temperature settings and curl direction options are great for switching up my look whenever I want. Plus, it seems really durable – I've been using it daily without any issues.

I have carpal tunnel syndrome, and I flat iron my hair since it's really curly. Once straight I need to add some curl becuase flat hair isn't the best. I added light beachy type waves with just the press of a button, not wrist pain no issues. I saw other ones on line but really?????? 70.00 to 129.00 for a curling wand , even if it does curl with a press of a button I didn't want to be paying a fortune. This is perfect!

So I'm not great with hair, never ever have I known how to curl my own hair. And I love my hair curled but I could never even add waves to it. I'm what you call "hair stupid" and it's just easier to wear it naturally straight.

With this thing though.... man, it totally changed the game for me. I watched videos of this product and it helped before I used it. It comes with its own bag, hair clips (!!), and two different sized barrels. It is easy to use and once I got more comfortable it's just been easier. So glad I purchased this, and it's definitely worth the buy if you are a beginner wanting to curl your hair.

I have struggled my entire life to use a curling iron. I just can’t get the hang of it. This device gives you the curling iron curls without the difficulty in using.

It took me a few minutes to attach the barrel to the wand itself. It comes with a larger and smaller barrel. I chose the larger due to the large amount of thick hair I have. I used some of the provided clips to section off my hair and got to work. It’s super easy to get the hair situated. I used the highest heat setting to get a tighter curl. I was slightly scared when the barrel wound my hair but it beeped to tell me it was ready and I easily slid ky hair out. I didn’t love the curl as much as my natural curls but I will like using it for the spots that don’t curl as well. My hair is about three inches belong my collar bone and very thick. It takes considerable time to do a head full of hair (be the same way with a curling iron.) I didn’t burn myself or my hair with this. I did put too much in the wand and it slowed down. I was scared it would knot and burn off but it slid easily out again. I do recommend using a heat protectant spray.

Overall, this would be a great tool for someone who doesn’t have super thick or long hair. It didn’t get to my roots and the curls weren’t as tight as I wanted. This could also be user error. That said, I do like this and will use it for touch up spots on my hair.

This curler comes with a User Manual and a Quick Start Guide. I suggest you use the Quick Start Guide and after a little practice you will be curling in no time. First of all, it comes with two sizes of rollers which you insert into the heating part. You align the arrow on the roller with the arrow on the heating element and turn it to lock it in. However, they tell you to turn it to the left to install it but in reality you turn it to the right to install it and the left to remove it. After that, I can only say to read the instructions and follow them exactly to get your curls. After I followed the steps shown and left the curler in until I heard the little beeps, I did indeed end up with curls.

I have a medium length bob and my hair pretty much looks the same all the time. This curler allows me to change my style a little without changing the cut of my hair. It also added some volume to my style which I often need. There are three heat settings you can choose from. I use the lowest setting because I want to be sure not to cause any damage to my processed hair, even though they state it has a protective ceramic coating for that purpose.

The curler comes with a very pretty pink bag to store or carry it in along with a couple of black heavy duty clips to control your hair while doing the curling.

If you have long hair, I can see why this curler would be very helpful in creating curls, and I will use it when I want to add some variety to my bob.

I always have hard time to curl my hair but when I found out this product , I would like to give a shot to try , after I received it , so excited to curl my hair , just I hold to the icon hair curl , it curl your hair naturally look . I suggest that if you don’t know how to curl the hair , this is the tool that you have to use for stunning look .

It’s easy to use, automatically curls the hair and has a timer so you know when to release the curls. The best thing is that you can change the barrel size so you can adjust your curls as needed. The only down side I think is that you would need to have longer hair that is around the same length to use this.

My 10 year old daughter is finally able to curl her hair without much assistance from me. There was just a small learning curve to getting it just right.
We’ve been wanting to try one of these for awhile, glad we finally did!
